Samsung has officially announced the launch of its 2017 variant of Galaxy A series devices — the A7, A5 and A3 — on Monday and all three of them sport an IP68 certified water and dust resistant design.
The IP68 certification allows devices to be submerged in water up to 5-ft deep for 30 minutes and also allows the device to brave rain, sweat, sand and dust — improving its longevity.
The device is currently only being made available in Russia, with global expansion to follow soon.

“At Samsung, we are always trying to ensure our customers have the most advanced products on the market. The latest Galaxy A series is a testament to this,” said DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
All the three devices are also equipped with a reversible USB Type-C port and also features an Always on Display which shows the time and calendar, helping users to see those without waking up the device and saving battery life too.
The devices are encased in a metal frame and also sport a premium 3D glass back.
“We integrated our unique approach to design as well as the features Galaxy customers have come to love to provide added performance without compromising on style,” he added.
The devices also have a secure folder which uses biometric authentication to open up — users can keep their data and other content safe in this folder.

- Battery: The power pack of the device is a 3000 mAh unit with QuickCharge technology, enabling it to charge faster.
Samsung Galaxy A3
- Processor: The Galaxy A3 is powered by a 1.6GHz octa-core processor.
- Camera: The device sports a 13MP rear as well as 8MP front camera.
- Display: It comes with a 4.7″ HD AMOLED screen.
- Memory: The A3 is backed by 2GB RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can further be expanded by 256GB via a microSD card.
- Battery: The power pack of the device is a 2350 mAh unit.
All three devices run on Android 6 Marshmallow and also receive a fingerprint scanner. The devices will be made available in the following colours: Black Sky, Gold Sand, Blue Mist and Peach Cloud. The devices will probably get Samsung’s own Exynos processors.
